Casting announced for Witness for the Prosecution

Downton Abbey's Catherine Steadman, Little Boy Blue star Jack McMullen and David Yelland, from Foyle's War, lead the cast of a landmark new stage production of Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution coming this October.

Steadman, best known for her role as the wife of Viscount Gillingham, Mabel Lane Fox, in Downton Abbey, will play the role of Romaine. McMullen plays Leonard Vole, a young man accused of murdering a widow to inherit her wealth. Yelland will play Sir Wilfrid Robarts, the QC who takes on the defence for Vole.

They are joined by Philip Franks (Art, Noises off, The Darling Buds of May), Patrick Godfrey (Half Life, Mr Turner), and Roger Ringrose (Broadchurch, Mr Selfridge), with Richard Attlee, Elliot Balchin, Alexandra Guelff, Miranda Horn, Jon House, Jules Melvin, Hywel Simons and Alex Stedman.

The new production, directed by Lucy Bailey and produced by Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Rebecca Stafford Productions, will take place in The Chamber, a magnificent courtroom setting at London's County Hall, and will plant audiences right in the centre of a gripping story of justice, passion, and betrayal.

Witness for the Prosecution will run from 6 October – 11 March with Press Night on 23 October.
